Making the universe a better place, one tech problem at a time.

Welcome to the U.S.S. Archimedes, a unique, prototypical engineering variant of the Prometheus class. As such, the Archimedes has all the hallmarks of the Prometheus class (regenerative shielding, ablative hull armour and, of course, the multi-vector assault mode), plus a little bit extra. We've scrapped the marine division and the Starfighters to make room for more labs, perfect for all the scientists and engineers out there.

The Archimedes is part of a specialized division of Starfleet known as the SCE, or, Starfleet Corps of Engineering. So if you're looking for a sim with a focus on science and technology, you're in the right place! The Starfleet Corps of Engineers are renowned throughout the galaxy as individuals with brilliant minds and exceptional skill in the creation, manipulation and maintenance of technology. If you feel as though you fit the bill, have a look around...

» December/End of Year Awards

Posted on Wed Jan 28th, 2015 @ 2:44pm by Captain Ariel Ostheimer in General News

Holy! We really raked it in this year, as we always do.
Again, thank you all for dedication to the sim. This place wouldn't be anything without you. <3

Read all about it:
(Taken from the TF main page)

"December was an amazing month for a number of reasons. First, it was Christmas, and I love Christmas. (As the decorations around the IFS clearly indicated. lol) There are a number of other celebrations throughout the month. Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Saturnalia, etc.

It was also a month of growth for Theta Fleet. A number of sims joined us last month. Some came from other fleets, some started new. one is a relaunch of an old sim. All bring more diversity and more opportunities to the fleet and its players.

It was also a month of great activity. All the award winners did very well. A number of sims that did not get awards also did well. The Red Dragon Inn had an impressive start.

With the increase in the number of sims, we have split the awards into Task Forces. So, there are now awards for TF23 and for Area 51. Congratulations all!

December TF Awards

Unit of Distinction Awards

Task Force 23:
Gold (tie): USS Archimedes & USS Katana
Silver: USS Calypso
Bronze (tie): Inti Colony & USS Missouri

Area 51:
Gold: USS Ragnarok
Silver: Starbase 80
Bronze: USS Endeavour

Player of the Month:
TF23: Nick. Nick has been instrumental in causing chaos on numerous sims. Basically, every sim he's on, he's causing trouble. That's why his name shows up here so often.
Area 51: Shawn Harper on the USS Achilles.

Writer of the Month:
TF23: Fluffy. Fluffy was (like Nick) nominated multiple times for this award. Her COs have noted that she has been helpful in moving stories along and blowing things up.
Area 51: Lieutenant Dania Storm, USS Ragnarok. Her posts have helped set up the next mission. Her foresight and planning have created ripples that will affect sub plots to come. She has also helped the CO to develop elements of an ongoing story arc.

Post of the Month:
TF23: Islandica: "One Small Step for an Enlisted Man..." (
Area 51: Starbase 80: "Hooded Specter" (

Quarterly Awards

CO of the Quarter:
Lucas Walker, USS Winchester
Walker joined the fleet and hit the ground running, earning UoD awards for both October and November. Unfortunately, he had some RL issues and went on ELOA for December and then had to close his sim. But we feel his effort deserves recognition and so give him the CO of the Quarter award.

XO of the Quarter:
Joran Suder, USS Archimedes
Suder has been acting XO for a while and recently stepped up officially. She is a great asset to the sim and the CO.

Annual Awards

CO of the Year (tie):
Ariel Ostheimer, USS Archimedes
Samantha York, USS Calypso
Both COs have won CO of the Quarter and both have circled each other for awards this year. Both are also actively involved in their sims and so we feel both deserve recognition.

XO of the Year:
Alexandra Vance, USS Calypso
Vance has been heavily involved in the chaos on Calypso, including blowing herself up in a shuttle accident. She can always be counted on to move the story forward or to sneak in and cause more chaos.

Sim of the Year (tie):
USS Archimedes
USS Calypso
Both sims, like both COs have been active, have come up with interesting story lines and have active crew that enjoy adding to the mix. So, we feel that both sims deserve to be recognized.

Player of the Year:
Todd, for his help as a webmaster, head of recruitment, web guru. He also ran Hogwarts for most of the year and gave it back to Josh to open the Red Dragon Inn.

Writer of the Year:
Ellie, USS Falcon, for single-handedly reviving the Falcon and posting on all the sims she belongs to."

» Wrapping Up

Posted on Wed Jan 28th, 2015 @ 2:15pm by Captain Ariel Ostheimer in General News

Hi, all!

As soon as 'Blowing the Proverbial Popsicle Stand' is posted, we will officially be back in normal space.

For those of you who approached me with your personal plot arcs: now is the time to get those going. If you need me to jump in and tag here and there, let me know and I'll be happy to oblige, or organize anything you need.

If you haven't approached me with any ideas for personal plot arcs (for character development, etc.), before, but you have an idea now, let me know.

If you have no ideas, don't worry. I have something in mind for each of you to do. =)

» Overlapping Roles

Posted on Sat Oct 25th, 2014 @ 4:25pm by Captain Ariel Ostheimer in General News

Hello, all!

I've noticed that there have been some confusion of late regarding some elements of this mission. Specifically, confusion in terms of what the specific duties are of any given officer, and why, in some cases, one task is tackled by two different officers with two different (yet similar) roles.

Allow me to explain a few things:

Firstly, Whenever I make a plot I take every effort to include everyone in it, in some way, shape, or form. I don't want anyone to be left out of anything. Thus, to allow everyone to play a part, I sometimes have to place individuals in a situation where they might not usually be, or place two individuals with similar roles in the same situation, adding some redundancies.

I realize now that in doing so, I've probably stepped on a few toes. For this apologize, and I will make every effort to make the roles more distinct from now on. (Obviously in some cases it'll probably be inescapable. For example, an operations officer will almost always be working in tandem with engineering, because the two fields are so closely linked.)

All the same, it is my duty to make sure that everyone is happy. Is it impossible for me to do this? Perhaps. But I will, none the less, at all times, strive to achieve this. So, if you have any concerns, or anything you'd like to add/amend, let me know. I'm here to help.

In my off time, I have been creating new Wiki pages. These pages are designed to have a brief history and usage information on the various technologies and equipment used by Starfleet. The hope of these pages are to have all of us more familiar with what type of clothing or equipment is at our characters disposal. Please feel free to comment or send me a PM if you want to help me set more like wiki pages up.

Mission: Frozen Fractals

Once everyone had left, Ari sighed, pushing her chair back far enough so that she could lean back properly and prop her feet up on the briefing room desk.

"Ridiculous," she murmured softly. "It's like I insulted some deity at some point, one who's making it their personal mission…

Vien snorted. "Fitting. Though I suppose I should get to work on that deflector and tractor beam."

An engineer came up to Vien and said, "Sir, most of the repairs are done, but gravitational harmonics are giving us trouble on Deck 19."

Vien frowned. "What kind of trouble?"
