WELCOME TO THE U.S.S. ARCHIMEDES

Making the universe a better place, one tech problem at a time.

Welcome to the U.S.S. Archimedes, a unique, prototypical engineering variant of the Prometheus class. As such, the Archimedes has all the hallmarks of the Prometheus class (regenerative shielding, ablative hull armour and, of course, the multi-vector assault mode), plus a little bit extra. We've scrapped the marine division and the Starfighters to make room for more labs, perfect for all the scientists and engineers out there.

The Archimedes is part of a specialized division of Starfleet known as the SCE, or, Starfleet Corps of Engineering. So if you're looking for a sim with a focus on science and technology, you're in the right place! The Starfleet Corps of Engineers are renowned throughout the galaxy as individuals with brilliant minds and exceptional skill in the creation, manipulation and maintenance of technology. If you feel as though you fit the bill, have a look around...

» March Awards

Posted on Thu Apr 10th, 2014 @ 9:36am by Commander Ariel Ostheimer in General News

Our streak of awesomeness remains unbroken! Read all about it here:

"March was a great month. Activity picked up, sims had some great story lines, and players had fun. What more could a fleet ask?

Unit of Distinction Awards
Gold: Archimedes & Calypso
Silver: Protector & Typhon
Bronze: London & Inti

Writer of the Month
Darrell, who has helped many of his sims by posting a lot.

Player of the Month
Marty, who stepped up as XO of Typhon, started posts with everyone, then contacted them to get them active again on the sim.

CO of the Quarter
If you’ve paid attention to the awards lately, ti’s no surprise that the CO of the quarter is Ariel Ostheimer. She motivates her crew to post and most of all, to have fun. The players on her sim love the missions and love causing trouble.

XO of the Quarter
Marty. For the same reason he received player of the month. Marty motivated the crew of the Typhon to get involved again and has done a great job"

(Taken from the TF main page)

Guys! I'm blushing. =^_^=

And a big shout-out to Darrel (Ka'Tock), who's devotion is part of the reason for this sim's continuing success.

Thank you all,

Commander Ari

» February 2014 Awards

Posted on Mon Mar 31st, 2014 @ 7:03am by Commander Ariel Ostheimer in General News

As you can see by the new shiny award gracing our homepage, we have taken the Gold for UoD for February.

Read all about it here:

"Delayed due to technical difficulties, here are the February awards. Thanks to Todd for getting the IFS back to normal. :)

Unit of Distinction
Gold (tie): USS Archimedes & USS Ares
Silver (tie): USS Calypso & USS London
Bronze: Inti Colony
Honorable Mention: Starbase Protector

Writer of the Month
Daniel. Daniel plays Mario Moretti on Inti Colony. He is actively involved in the sim and often makes suggestions for posts and story subplots. He recently got half the sim involved in a birthday party, which led to intrigue and drama. Always fun.
Player of the Month
Christa. Christa plays Roberta Andrews. On the USS Ares she was actively involved in all aspects of the mission, creating sup lots for her character and helping to keep the Ares active and interesting. We are pleased that she chose to transfer her character to another sim so we can continue to enjoy her character’s story arc."

» That's a Wrap!

Posted on Tue Mar 25th, 2014 @ 5:29pm by Commander Ariel Ostheimer in Sim Announcement

We have officially finished 'Dragons of Deck 5'. Huzzah! We'll be moving into what I'll be calling 'Game Over' as we deal with making repairs on the ship.

I'll be starting posts with each of you during this week as we tie together some loose ends, and start working on some elements that will be critical to our next (official) mission, entitled 'A Whole New World'. AWNW will be the start of a massive mission arc that I have planned for the sim. It'll be awesome, I promise. I'm super excited, and you all should be to.

During this time I also urge you to write posts with your fellow crewmates as well. (It's about time for the annual physicals and psychological exams, so you all should consider checking in with Lieutenant ch'Anidem and Ka'Tock soon-ish. :P )

So, to facilitate the spirit of posting I direct your attention to the *drumroll* CBOX! You might've noticed a new tab on our toolbar above under the name of "Mess Hall". This links directly to a chatbox specific to the Archimedes. The chatbox is an integral feature to forum-based roleplaying, and it is something that I feel is missing from simming. The intent of the CBOX is to generate OOC chatter with the crew as a whole and to produce a greater feeling of connectedness. With this, I hope that we'll generate more ideas for JPs outside of the main storyline.

I'll keep the CBOX open for about two months or so as a trial run. If I see that no one is interested/it isn't being used, I'll remove it from the toolbar (no use having it take up space for no reason).

That's all for now,

-- Commander Ari

» A New Addition

Posted on Fri Feb 21st, 2014 @ 3:02pm by Commander Ariel Ostheimer in General News

I'd like you all to join me in welcoming Lieutenant Zaimiel ch'Anidem to our ship as our new Chief Medical Officer! While he joined our ship about a week ago, I wanted to wait a little closer to the end of our current mission to introduce him. He'll be stepping in, officially, as soon as "The Great Rescue" is completed.

Rest assured, pokings and proddings will begin shortly. If you're scared of getting your annual physical done, well...now's the time to run for the nearest airlock hatch. :P

Welcome to the Archimedes, Lieutenant!

Warmest regards,

Commander Ari
